Application of biodegradable coatings on ‘Tommy Atkins’ mango for export

This study evaluates the effect of a low-cost biodegradable coating formulated with potato starch, rice cassava and gelatin on postharvest quality ‘Tommy Atkins’ mango. The experimental design was completely randomized, arranged in 7x6 factorial scheme four replications per treatment. data were subjected to analysis variance using Tukey test at 5% probability. After coating, fruits stored under ambient conditions (25 ± 3 ºC 65 RH) for 10 days, every two days. variables analyzed were: fruit firmness, weight loss, total soluble solids, titratable acidity, solids/titratable acidity ratio, delta absorbance (DA) index, colorimetric peel pulp, ascorbic acid content. application coatings did not extend shelf life mango during storage.
